My heart-felt condolences to the family and friends of Joan E. Williams and to the Morgan State University Family of which she was a vital part for so many years. I had the pleasure and good fortune of working with Ms. Williams on a number of occasions during her Morgan years, and she was one of our staff members on whom we could always depend. Working with her always brought a smile to my face and laughter and joy to my heart. She was always willing and eager to lend a helping hand, whether to our students or to her colleagues. Morgan will be forever grateful for her 23 years of dedicated service, and I shall always be thankful for the pleasure of knowing her and working with her, and the privilege of calling her my friend. Rest in Peace, My Friend? May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!

To the Family:

I was sorry to hear the news about the death of Joan. I worked with Joan at Morgan State University for many years. When I heard the sad news, I automatically thought of her laughter and the funny conversations we had about work. She was always willing to assist the students, faculty and administrators. Joan took her responsibilities seriously. It seems so unfair that death should have the power to take away someone you love. Please know that the family can find comfort in Jesus Christ words found at John 11:25, "I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life." I encourage you to contine to think of the wonderful times you shared! I know that I will.

Joan was more than a colleague during her years with the Graves School of Business and Management. She was a friend. I appreciated that she was a hard worker and a straightforward individual. She shared her church and her family with me. She will be remembered fondly. My prayers and condolences go out to the entire family.

Death is an inevitable part of life, a harsh reality that makes one question their own mortality.  It makes one question their own purpose in life. I have known Joan for over 20 years. She work closely with me for 7 years. She was a very caring, hard working and spiritual person. Joan went away so suddenly that I did not get a chance to say goodbye. But I know that the precious memories that I have of Joan will never die.
God had something else for her to do,
So he put his arms around her
And whispered ‘Come to Me’.
Although you are no longer physically with us Joan, we loved you dearly and the memories of you will forever remain in our hearts.
