I worked for Darren at the Ravens training facility for approximately 12 years. He was the one who hired me.. My husband, former MLB Curt Motton passed from stomach can stomach cancer in 2010.. When the Ravens were at the Westminster training facility , he made sure that Curt was escorted by golf cart from the car to watch practice since he was too weak to walk. Darren will be missed so much and my condolences go out to his family. I will always miss him texting me Happy Birthday for 12 years. He never forgot.. He had such a good memory on people's birthdays that he would text them and wish them a Happy Birthday and he truly cared about people. He was compassionate and would ask how you were doing even as he was battling his cancer. Truly amazing spirit he had.
RIP

Sharin and family, met Darren through a GBM support group through Hopewell. He was always in a good mood and willing to share his journey. I admired his strep and honesty through his cancer journey. I will always appreciate Darrens positive outlook on life and his words of inspiration. I feel thankful and blessed to have met him.
May Darren’s memory be for a blessing and I wish you all nothing but love and light through the next stage of this journey.
Take care of yourselves and those puppies.

My deepest condolences to the Sanders Family. I worked with Darren at HIDTA and over the years became a good friend and confidante. He was inspiring, kind, helpful, and a true professional at his craft in law enforcement. His bright smile and giant personality will be missed. Dear Sharon and Family,

I'm a long- time friend of one of Darren's cousins. My heart is broken and I will miss his presence! We had a special bond throughout the years via texting after Ravens/Steelers games. I will cherish the times of seeing him on TV and made sure anyone near me knew who he was.
May you all find solace in memories made and time spent.
Thank you for sharing your loved one with me.
Peace be with you.

To the Sanders family:

I met Darren when we were in first grade, at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. We were in the same class all the way til 9th grade! After that, it took watching a Ravens game in 2017 before I saw Darren again. Some 40 years later, I still knew his face when I saw it! I learned of his brave battle. It took me awhile to work up the nerve to reach out. Maybe he wouldn't even remember me or think I was after something. I prayed on it, and was directed to just send him card to let him know he was in my prayers.

He called me in May. We talked for hours! He did remember me! We talked about our old school, and classmates, teachers and the Baltimore where you could walk to school and crossing guards kept an eye on you. We talk about his battle, his faith and his resolve. He joked we shouldn't wait another 40 years.

I feel fortunate for that precious phone call. I wish there had been more. Wishing him Eternal Rest. May you find peace.

Bob and I first met Darren through the Hopewell Cancer Support Group, and we were immediately inspired. Darren was a man of many strengths and talents who brought joy, comfort and faith to all he encountered. We will always remember his great love of Loew's, his pride in his work with the Ravens, and his hopeful and generous spirit.
All of us in the Hopewell group found our lives enriched by Darren. We wish you comfort and peace as you carry Darren's grand spirit forward.

After my brother, who was a Lieutenant in the BCPD died in 2000, I returned to work at the Hyatt Regency to find flowers from a man I had never met. That man was Darren. From that day on, I have known him as a great friend. He, Craig and Darryl made sure my family was taken care. I’ll never forget his kindness and generosity. I loved serving the Ravens at the hotel and made sure to stay in touch since my departure in 2008. May you Rest In Peace sweet soul.

This is Darren's cousin on the Fauntleroy side of the family. I babysat Darren and Ronald and am sad that time and distance kept me from getting to know his immediate family. I was proud of him for his successful life and pray healing strength for his wife, children, sister and brothers. He is now resting peacefully and reunited with his mother and father. Love to my cousins. Loretta.

To the Sanders family and loved ones, as a former colleague of the Baltimore Police Department I pray that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ gives you the strength, comfort, and peace you need during your time of mourning.
Psalm 147:3 tells us that:
“He (God) heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” God heals our broken hearts, even when we lose someone we love. Unfortunately, there is no timetable for grief but you can cling to the promise that God heals broken hearts.

May God give you and your precious daughter strength today and always. It was a Blessing to cross Darren's path, I would call for a particular reason and we would always end up talking about God's Grace and Mercy, sharing stories, crying, saying talk soon, hang up and I would have to call back because I never got a chance to discuss why I called. He was a Blessing to others in the midst of it all!! God Bless and Keep You and The Family.

You will certainly be missed. The last time we spoke you said said you were doing well, but we both knew that wasn't the case. You were more concerned about my feelings than you were about your own situation. That pretty much sums up the kind of guy you are. There is a very short list of people I consider to be more friend than client. You, my friend, are definitely on that list. I look forward to seeing you again.

To the Sanders Family, I am saddened for our loss Darren, most of all each of you. Darren enriched my life!! His and my association was through his work and service with the Ravens, and my work and service at Helping Up Mission (HUM). His loving Spirit shined through the visits he made every year, and his compassion for the men and women cared for at HUM - none more than when he saw a high school classmate in the crowd. We may have seen each other only 1-2 times each year - but we shared a deep Faith in Jesus. I pray GOD has already shown His Presence, Grace and Peach to you in this time of grieving. May the pain of present loss become overwhelmed with the joy of his saving faith, and that the reunion that awaits GOD's Saints will be for Eternity. Kris Sharrar and the Helping Up Mission Family
