I knew Chervel from Morgan. She was always fun, sincere and lively. She had a wonderful spirit. I will miss her dearly. She was a very special lady. I know the Morgan State Community is very sorrowful. You all have my deepest sympathy.

I knew Mrs. Reavis-Porter briefly at Annapolis High School, but even during the brief period I met her, I was able to see how generous, kind, and engaging she was with her coworkers and especially with our students. She was passionate about everything and everyone. She talked about what would be her dream retirement townhouse and her plans in the near future. She secretly placed snacks in some of our student's bookbags, and she always knew which ones were the ones always hungry. She was kind to the anxious ones and I saw firsthand how her absence impacted our kids. She will not be forgotten and I wish to convey my deepest condolence to her family and especially her baby boy (the young man in a picture near her desk). She talked so proudly about how unique he was. Just know that she was unique too and we will not forget her.

Sincerely,
Mimi Torres-Pagan

To Reavis-Porter Family,

In her short time at Annapolis High School, Mrs. Reavis-Porter was able to shine in the classroom. I was fortunate enough to observe her mentor, a young couple who was expecting a child, and to teach her students how to navigate the new Bright Space educational platform. Mrs. Reavis-Porter may have been new to the school house however, she was not new to the world of education.

Mrs. Reavis-Porter was a gifted orator, and natural educator who was looking forward to helping the students of Annapolis High develop into strong young men and women. Her quick wit, her sense of humor, and her passionate willingness to help others in and out of the classroom walls will truly be missed.

My condolences,

Matthew George, III

Jay,

I’ve never physically met your sister, but if her reflection is within you I’ve met her. I can’t identify with the emotions of losing a siblings by any means, so I will not say anything cliché. However, I will tell you I’ve been praying for you and your family and I will continue to do so. May you find solace and humor in her precious memories. May you also find peace and guidance in the still moments of your new reality. Always remember Love Never Dies!! I love you forever and always! #VUUforLife

Phillipians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
