To Robbie, Charles IV, Julian, Brianna and family:
I'm sorry the first time we met was at this morning's service.
Charles was a wonderful friend and colleague. We had a lot of good times covering the Maryland State House.
What I remember most about Charles was not only his laugh, but also his humanity. The man loved people and helped everyone including me.
We are all better and lucky to have had Charles in our lives. You are all part of his wonderful legacy.
I hope all of the wonderful memories and life lessons he gave you all provides comfort during this very difficult time.
I wish you peace.

Good morning Ladies & Gentlemen,
I couldn't be there today as I have only recently learned of the passing of one of my oldest friends "Charles Robinson III." I live in Jackson Hole Wyoming, and thus, I am writing to all of you a few words.
My Condolences to the Entire Robinson Family! Charles is one of my very oldest friends on this planet. From the age of 6, we met in 1st. grade at School 142. We often played & studied together as we had like interest. Growing up we played sandlot baseball, slay riding, football over at the Douglas High school campus, and "Professor Robinson" & "Mrs. Robinson" also played a major role in the development of my own conceptual continuity, as if I was a member of the "Robinson Family," as I had the honor of spenting a lot of time in their home.
Once at their home, I remember when Charles & I were 11, Professor Robinson explained "Newton's 3rd. Law of Motion" to us in a casual conversation. (College level concepts.) Myself being super excited that I understood, I yelled out that,... "I got it!" Charles said, "Yea, Dad talks stuff like that all the time."
Now, as I look back, it was such an honor and Blessing to have grown up in a time where we all had both parents in our homes, and parents were educated & hard working in our neighborhood. Charles was equally welcomed in my home, and my mom (a specialist in elementary education) and dad (in biology) were always equally engaging with Charles. He was always an exceptional example of excellent parenting and grew into the highly successful gentlemen and the media professional he reflects here today, as we look around at this august congregation that has come here to say "good by" to him. He touched all of us, and he always provided us with excellence, good character and great humor. While we will miss him, each and every one of us should get down on our knees and thank GOD for his presence in our lives.
Let this be a Thankful Day for the time Charles has been with us. He left us way too soon. My world was a better place just knowing he was still with us. Please provide his sister "Ms. Jackie," and the entire family with my contact data, and have them contact me as time permits. Again, My extreme condolences herein to all.

To the Family & Friends of the Late Charles Robinson, III
On behalf of the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Black Alumni Council (BAC), I would like to extend my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to you and your family during this incredibly difficult time. We were deeply saddened to learn about the passing of our alum Charles Robinson, III, and I want you to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Losing someone we love is an unimaginable pain, and the void left behind by their absence. Charles will be remembered for his kindness and the contributions he made to the VCU community, especially the Theta Rho Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated where he was a 1975 initiate. Charles has left an indelible impact on those who had the privilege of knowing him.
May the love and support of those around you provide comfort and strength as you navigate through this profound loss. Please accept the VCU Black Alumni Council’s sincere condolences once again and may the cherished memories of Charles bring you peace and serenity in the days to come.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Dr. Sabrina L. Scott-Lorestil

I'm from Richmond VA and met Chuck through his cousin (and my Groton Brother) George Smith in the 1970's. We spent lots of time at Chucks Grandfather's home. I always felt welcome and was treated like family . From VCU to MPT, we had many adventures together. Chuck stayed with me in Charlotte NC for a week in 2012 for the DNC and recruited me as his photographer. What a wonderful and important time for us and this country. I loved Chuck and will miss him dearly.

Very sorry to learn of Charles' passing. He was a good and congenial man, a solid ivic-spirited journalist. I have fond memories of the day he wanted to learn about fly fishing and we met on the Gunpowder River for an MPT story. Rest in peace, Charles.
