My condolences to the family. Carroll Marcus was the consummate gentleman—classy, sophisticated, kind, full of wisdom, and always willing to help.

I met him when I first became employed with the U.S. Probation Office for the District of Maryland in the Baltimore Office. He, along with Butch Wilson and Berkley Mosley, took me under their wings. They protected me, educated me, informed me, and helped keep me out of trouble. Each of them had their own unique style, and Marcus was the gentle giant.

I am truly grateful for the time he took with me and for the guidance he gave me as he showed me the way. His wisdom and teachings stayed with me throughout my career and made a lasting impact on my life.

He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the many lives he touched. May God comfort and strengthen his family during this difficult time.
