I have only now learned of the Safe Streets Baltimore organization. I was heartened by its existence, mission and success rate. In the few seconds that followed, I then learned of Dante Barksdale's death that came to him by the very violence that he was trying to prevent.

I love the city of Baltimore for it's artistic expressions, quirkiness and authenticity. I also ache for the city of Baltimore for its chronic pains of poverty, addiction and crime. I want peace to come to Baltimore so its residents can be themselves instead of statistics.

Rest well, Tater! Your presence in Baltimore and with the Safe Streets team will be missed so much. I enjoyed all the moments we shared and appreciate your genuine spirit.

This is MS. Lois daughter Charlette we are going too miss you Dante. Family I know is hard but God have your back keep your head up high. I would never forget your smile and I will keep your family in prayer it's so hard to say goodbye to you Dante but now you with God amen

You were/are the epiphany to what the Lotus Flower represents- from muddy, dark waters -You emerge beautiful, strong, enlightened, whole to ensure others emerge just the same.
